Interpreting what the lights on a Delonghi Magnifica coffee maker, like other automatic coffee makers, mean can be tricky, as sometimes they come on steady, sometimes they flicker, and sometimes they may even flash several lights at once.
What do the lights on the Delonghi Magnifica mean?
Below we will explain what each light on the Delonghi Magnifica means. We will accompany the simple explanations with real images of the coffee maker in each state.
The water tank indicator light remains steady

The cause: When the tank light comes on steadily, it may be due to several factors such as insufficient water in the tank, the water tank being incorrectly positioned, or is not clean enough and is clogged with limescale and other debris.
The water tank indicator light is flashing

The cause: In this case, the coffee grind may be too fine, the preparation is too slow, or the coffee maker cannot prepare the coffee.
The indicator light of the coffee grounds container remains steadily lit

The cause: This light will indicate that the coffee grounds container is full or not in place.
The indicator light of the coffee grounds container is flashing

The cause: The “pre-ground coffee” option will have been selected without adding the ground coffee to the machine.
Rinsing/decalcification indicator light flashes

The cause: This light will indicate that the coffee maker needs to be descaled. It could also be that the coffee beans have run out or something is blocking the machine’s grinder.
The first four lights of my Delonghi Magnifica blink alternately

The cause: The infuser was probably put in place incorrectly after cleaning.
The bean container indicator lights and the general alarm flash alternately

The cause: This can be due to several reasons: the coffee maker has just been turned on, the brewer is not properly set in place, or the service door is not properly closed.
The indicator lights of the bean container and the general alarm are flashing at the same time

The cause: Perhaps the pre-ground coffee funnel is clogged.
The general alarm indicator light remains steadily lit

The cause: After cleaning, the brewer may not have been put back in place, or the inside of the brewer may be very dirty.
The general alarm indicator light is flashing

The cause: The service door has been left open.
One-cup, two-cup, and steam indicator lights are flashing

The cause: The coffee maker was turned on while the steamer was on.
My Delonghi Magnifica coffee maker has been incorrectly programmed
The Delonghi Magnifica coffee maker comes programmed with a standard factory configuration, like all coffee makers. However, if we want to modify this configuration, we have the option to do so, depending on our particular needs.
The problem: When I tried to configure my Delonghi Magnifica coffee maker as I wanted, the programmed quantities were not as expected, and the configuration got a little out of control. Now I don’t know how to solve this impasse.
The cause: Before making changes to the machine’s configuration, it is important to read and understand the instructions for use very well. If this is the first time you use your coffee maker and wanted to explore the menu buttons or change the configuration to your liking without prior knowledge, you have likely misconfigured the machine. It is necessary to reset the factory settings.
The solution: Press the ESC button to enter the menu, then press the scroll arrows until the default option appears and press the OK button; immediately, the confirmation option will appear, press the OK button again to confirm and exit.
This will be enough to reset the menu settings and programmed quantities to the default values; the language will be the only thing that will remain the same.
